The marriage of my uncle John Jackson to wife Edna, with Ralph Holland (another uncle)as Best Man (to John's left). Bridesmaids, Edna's sister Barbara on the left and Edna's friend Ruby to Edna's right. Possibly St Eanswyth's Church early 1940s. (The ceremony may also have been in one of the country ones-maybe Cranbrook as I think that's where Edna came from)

My Grandmother Mabel Sebborn (nee Jackson nee Holland- see below), Montgomery Way 1959 in the garden. (Seamstress by profession, later worked at the ld New Era Laundry in Shaftesbury Ave- now Age Concern)
Mabel was born to John Holland and Minnie May Marsh in 1896. She had three brothers Stan, Tom and Harry.
Mabel had her first son 'Ralph (Holland) in 1915 after meeting a soldier called 'Derek'. He never returned from the front in WW1.
Mabel then married a Canadian soldier John Jackson late in the war. He survived, and they had Mabel's swecond son. John William George. (later known as Jack). This marraige lasted until 1931 when John was reported 'lost' on a ship that sank in the Atlantic.
Mabel married for the second time in 1933 to soldier Robert Sebborn and had a third child. Gwendolyn Joan. However, Robert left Mabel shortly after.
The family lived in Taylor Road for many years-espcioally 1930's. Later moving to their separate homes.
Mabel lived with Gwen for many years after the war. Homes in Broadmead Rd, Wood Ave, Montgomery Way, Biggins Wood Rd and then, Appledore Cres (prefabs) and Coronation Cottages. She went in to
Stan married Alice and lived for many years in Shaftesbury Ave (near junction with Ashley Ave). They had one son Peter, who ran a butchers shop in Hawkinge.
Tom and Harry accompanied Mabel to Canada and the USA (Chicago) after WW1. Mabel returned to the UK, with her two sons, in 1930.
Tom, the youngest, was involved in alcohol running in the Prohibition era, and was shot & killed because of it.
Harry, descrobed as 'straight as a die', remained in Chicago. Nothing is known whether he had any family, or whether they still exist.
